Therapeutic attitudes when faced with ruptures of the Achilles tendon usually oscillate between two well-known principles:
- Non-operative orthopaedic treatment, - Surgical treatment.
Situated midway between these two solutions, percutaneous tenosynthesis of the Achilles tendon seems to enable the deficiencies and risks caused by the two solutions mentioned above to be avoided. When developing this technique, the aim was to simplify the operation and provide minimum aggression.
