Specific bone cement for vertebroplasty

Indications

Opacity + ® is a self hardening and ready to use medium viscosity bone cement with a high amount of radiopaque agent for percutaneous vertebroplasty.

Opacity + ® is specifically recommended for :

   - Fixation of painful vertebral compression fractures that may result from osteoporosis

   - Benign symptomatic lesions (hemangioma)

   - Malignant painful lesions (metastatic cancers, myeloma).

   - Extra spinal cementoplasty (femoral neck, pelvis, long bones)

Optimal working phase

The viscosity of the Opacity + ®, specifically designed for vertebroplasty offers the following outstanding advantages :

- Its initial reduced viscosity makes mixing phase easier ant facilitates aspiration into the syringe.
- Its well adapted rheology allows an optimal injection time and gives the operator to work out the procedure with an easy mind.

When following the recommended application phase, the implantation of Opacity + ® within its pasty phase will offer :

- firstly a good penetration into spongious tissues without any leakage,
- secondly, an optimal distribution of the volume of cement into the vertebra

A maximum radio opacity

Opacity + ® has a high rate of radio opaque agent (50%) for a maximum visibility and radiological control. This better continious and real time view of the flow of cement avoid any leakage.
Thanks to its high radiopaque capacity, the ready to use Opacity+can be used either under fluoroscopy or CT scan.

Mechanical properties

Mechanical properties of Opacity + ® meet the ISO 5833 requirements, enhancing long term stabilisation of the vertebra.

Better biocompatibility

Due to its 5% hydroxyapatite content, Opacity + ® is more biocompatible than any conventional bone cements for vertebroplasty.
The HA particles at the surface of the cement enhances osteoblast response.

Storage

Bone cement is delivered sterile, ready to be used in the operating theatre.
The cement must be stored in its unopened original packaging in a clean, dark and dry place at a maximum temperature of 25°C.
